    ATI Mobility Radeon 9800

Any idea how long before this card will filter into the UK laptop market. I'm waiting on placing an order but can't get an eta from the manufacturer in question. Are we typically looking at two months, three months?

I know Dell alreday have them on their Inspiron 9100 but I can't go Dell...

    Cheers

Why can't you go Dell? iirc they were one of the few who shipped 9700s in their laptops, the rest used 9600s. Only other UK company I can think of are Alienware that would ship with a 9800 Mobility (since they used the 9700), but expect it to be near £2k.

Being baought via work - purchase is already approved and has to be through Rock. Hence, can't go Dell or any other without a whole lot of hassle...

Build your own laptop. ASUS should have barebones laptops with the mobility 9800s in them pritty soon. Then you can get the pentium-M, so-dimms, and drives separatly. Saves alot of money since you don't pay for alot of extra junk and software you may not use.

sure mobility 9800 is going to be great but id suggest you wait a month or two and see the mobility 9600/9700 take a big fall in price. if you really want mobility 9800 wait until 2005 when prices should at least be sane.
