660: 24489
660 ti: 27834
thanks for any replies

I'd say 660ti as it gives a more pronounced boost.
You'll still save a bucket load of electricity and cut down on the heat an noise a lot.
Should also be able to get a few quid back for the 2 x 460s!

Go for either HD6970 2gb or GTX670 2gb/3gb
like these :-

or if you can afford a little bit more cash 1 of these

any of the above will do more for less good quality cards
read some reviews on each of the cards mentioned
hope this helps
for the GTX460 cards you will probably get around £80ish each £75 buy it now on ebay
A single 670 will feel like 460 sli (and use less power) but smart money goes on the 4GB editions as quite a few games are pushing 2GB even at 1080p these days (BF3 and Max Payne 3 being examples) and of course if you fancy surround or 1440p then 3GB+ is very wise. Downside is the cost. Both the 660 and 660 TI and lower AMD card's 7870 and below all struggle with BF3 maxed at 1080p which the 670 doesn't. 7950 is a great budget option and has the extra VRAM and 7950 CF is VERY powerful. But you can always add another 670 later as well.
If you don't mind not always maxing every setting 660-660 ti offer pretty much 580 power for 50% less cost than a 580 was this time last year. If you want to max even the demanding games and mess with surround the only option is 660 SLi 7850 CF or a more powerful single card.
I really like kepler but the 2GB VRAM on most cards is bit of a cock up. Can really hammer you beyond 1080p. But as your using 1GB cards 2GB is still a massive upgrade and will allow all those sexy HD texture maps to really work in Skyrim Crysis 2-3 and Sleeping Dogs etc.
So if you have the budget after selling the old cards the 670 or 7950 (or better) really deliver. They handle stuff like AA AF and Ambient Occlusion in a way even the best old cards could not even get close to (Even in SLi-CF).
3XS i7 2600k 4.9 Ghz, P67, FT02 SE, MSi GTX 680, 4GB DDR3, OCZ Revo 2 x2 PCIE SSD 240 GB, G930 7.1.
What CPU,motherboard and PSU do the OP have?? I would go for either an HD7950 or GTX670(or a cheap HD7970) single card for now. You could add another one as time progresses. The HD7950 and HD7970 3GB do seem to a bit better than a GTX670 2GB if you do use mods in games like Skyrim as they are very VRAM intensive(not that a GTX670 does badly),but this of course it is a more an uncommon case ATM. However, the GTX670 probably has slightly more consistent performance in dual card setups AFAIK.
Now for a more budget dual card setup, perhaps two GTX660 or HD7870 cards might be good too,but I would probably just get one of the higher end cards now,and move on from there.

Totally agree! Kepler! One big rip off! I'm no fan boy of either camp, had cards from both over the years. HD7970 was the card for me, 3GB and whole lot more compute power!
