    MSI R7970 Lightning

    Hi there

I've been thinking about getting new GPU and the MSI R7970 Lightning has caught my eye. I've read a couple of reviews and it seems a great card.

Has anyone got this card and what do you think about it?

    Cheers.

I havent gotten this card, but I would get as it seems to be the best 7970 on the market.

It does seem one of the best. Have been doing a bit more research on it but would still like to hear from anybody that has already got this card.

Also I've checked the specs and I will have to mod my case probably (or it will be a very tight fit) as the card spec is 1mm longer than what should fit my case.

How much better is it than say a Gigabyte version at around the same price point? If the difference is not that big then I'd go with the Gigabyte as they seem to have the best warranty arrangements for graphics cards in the UK.

What will you be using it for? Most games run at max settings in full hd on a 7878 or 7950. So for those games a 7970 is overkill...

Gigabyte's UK RMA/warranty is a factor in deciding which card to get, but the MSI card does look good and their warranty is also good even tho RMA is to the Netherlands I'm not worried.

That usually adds up to ten days to the RMA process, be sure to buy from a reputable dealer so that they will chase up delays for you as most warranties will go through the seller and not direct to the manufacturer.
