What they possibly ment by "frying voltages" may have been a reference to some of the teething problems some boards had with GF4's when they first came out. Imho, the issue wasnt that bad - and usually there were bios fixes out to fix any known issues - even on older boards like yours.
Edit: basically, I did a search for "6VXC7-4X AGP problems" and it didnt come up with anything, so...
