    "what gfx for £x"

I've decided to get a new gfx card - You're all shocked I'm sure . Erm I've got a 9700 pro atm and about £215 to spend. I spyed out the msi NX6800 which looks fairly good. Any other ideas?

The XFX 6800 has a good games bundle and I think a large UK company has that on special this week. Is supposedly an excellent clocker along with the leadtek cards...

I read somewhere that the 6800 needs at least a 480w psu and I only have a 420w. If thats true I'd be spending about £280 which is about the same as an x800 pro.

I second that. Storming bang for the buck. :-)

Dragonb4llz: Your PSU should be fine.

If I remember correctly, the 480W requirement is for people who have poor brands of PSUs, so would need a higher power PSU. If you have a decent brand, then you don't need such a high wattage. I think that brand is more important than wattage when buying a PSU.

Should my ThermalTake Pure Power 420w be enough?

I've looked at the other cards and I'm really tempted to put in the extra money for a x800 pro. My bro managed to mod it to a xt pe and its pretty sweet on doom 3!

Nvidia originally stated a 6800 ultra needed a 480w but they retracted it to a "300w needed. Only need a 480w for overclocking to extreme" after a huge furore. Your branded 420w should be perfectly fine enough for standard/light overclocking.
