Re: Graphics card fps help!
Right, Some jumps on cod4 require a higher FPS so that you can jump further and move around the map faster. So I do need to have that higher FPS for advantage whilst playing, Yes I may not be able to see the change in quality but the FPS advantage on COD4 is crucial to how a player plays at LAN events etc... And no I haven't took my card out and put the GTS 450 back in.
Re: Graphics card fps help!
HOW IS MY GTS 450 OUTPERFORMING MY 660 Ti TELL ME THAT PLEAAASE
Re: Graphics card fps help!
you know whats wierd about the drop off in fps.
well i got it too when i upgraded, albeit an ATI card. but it was in a synthetic benchmark though - unigene:heaven.
went from a DX10 card to a dx11 card, upgraded the drivers and the fps went down on the dx9 and dx10 settings, but went up on the DX11 ones.
im putting this down to ATI taking out support for the pre 4xxx series from the drivers, maybe they removed some increases and tweaks that benefitted the new cards too.
i know you have a nvidia, maybe in tweaking for the new cards they've removed some improvements for older games as it appears ATI has .imo
only way to find out, put some older drivers on from about a year ago. see if the fps goes up.
other than that.
maybe they've 'optimized' the drivers, so instead of getting massive 300 fps like you used to, you get a smoother more consistent higher average fps. one where it doesnt vary so wildly.
Re: Graphics card fps help!
Where could I find some older nvidia drivers :) ?
Re: Graphics card fps help!
Id just like to add that what stexa is saying is correct. In CoD4 the higher the FPS the better. The game engine has a glitch in it where if you have an fps of 125, 250, 333 you actually jump further. It allows you to jump/run onto parts of the map that are typically not allowed or not intended.
Stexa:-
You might have variable vsync enabled in your Nvidia Control Panel or prehaps you have AA/AF turned on try using FXAA/TXAA.
You can find older drivers here although I would have thought the older drivers wont have support for the 6 series cards.
Re: Graphics card fps help!
Finally, someone who knows about CoD4 ;D
Re: Graphics card fps help!
was going to chirp in about the fps thing - it goes back to the days of quake 3 (same engine after all) ; whilst 60 fps is fine for most shooters ala BF series etc , for twitch kill games (quake 3 based especially - and ut as well), you actually want loony high framerate (and weird pov settings); a friend used to play in the lowest number of colours as possible and a wide pov in online tournys.
you tried the gts 450 since the 660 went it?
Re: Graphics card fps help!
My fps is kind of getting better but it's still not getting the 250 constant that I want, Plus I haven't put the 450 back in
Re: Graphics card fps help!
maybe try with the gts 450? see if it is drivers?
Re: Graphics card fps help!
Did you try the FXAA/TXAA settings like I suggested?
Re: Graphics card fps help!
Many games auto adjust the quality settings depending on system specifications. Chances are you have Vsync automatically turned on. This drops the frame rate to the refresh rate of your monitor. Turn it off in order to get better frame rates. Hope this helps you.
Re: Graphics card fps help!
I don't have vsync on I never have it on :/ Plus I've got a slight improvement with FXAA/TXAA off :)
