All three fans failed on Gigabyte GTX670

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my graphics card to a GTX670 (Gigabyte GV-N670OC-2GD Windforce) and it's been fine for a few weeks then suddenly I noticed the temp creeping up in a game, so I opened up the case and saw all three fans had stopped working.

I'm currently waiting for a reply from Gigabyte but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? It's using a 6pin and a 6+2pin power adapter and there've been no system changes to coincide with it breaking.

    cheers

Have you checked the cable that supplies power to the fans is still attached to the graphics card board? There's a small white plug with green, blue, black and yellow wires that should connect to a small white socket just behind the 8-pin (6+2) power adapter.

    Reference the photos here; http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphi...-windforce-3x/

That plug is usually tightly connected and is in my view unlikely to detach but it's worth checking.

Thanks, just checked and it seems to be in place.

I forgot to say, MSI Afterburner reports that the fans are spinning, if that makes any difference, i.e. it shows the fan speed percentage as being what it normally is. The fan rpm however is zero but I'm not sure if that's ever worked.

Contact the retailer where you purchased the card from explain the problem they should RMA the faulty card and replace or refund you....

Re: All three fans failed on Gigabyte GTX670

I don't think there's an easy fix to this so I've requested a replacement from the retailer. Damn, I had a day off to play games as well!

Re: All three fans failed on Gigabyte GTX670

If the fan duty cycle control from graphics card works well but the post value of fan RPM is zero, the fan must be faulty. It can explain there is no problem on Afterburner except RPM. you should reach out their RMA service center.
