Unexpected bonus - BFG 6800GT-ultra upgrade

PCW Components seem to be the only firm providing BFG products in the UK.
I had been waiting to order a 6800GT card, and had emailed and telephoned them repeatedly over a period of 3-4 weeks to buy one (this is prior to their last stock that came in and sold out again recently.)

Eventually when speaking to the same guy again (jon milford - very helpful chap), I was offered a free upgrade to an ultra card which came with a ratpadz also! I had to buy and pay for the ultra card, but he then refunded me the extra money over the cost of the GT...

Just a heads up to you folks out there still waiting for a BFG 6800GT card

    Cheers

    Vish

p.s. the phone number can be found by clicking the Geotrust button on their website. The main PCWorld helpline is next to useless.

    Sounds like great news!

You're right though, I believe BFG have an exclusive deal with PC World, they are the only UK-based store licensed to sell their products over here.

What are the chances of this happening again? hehe. I really want a 6800GT, but an Ultra would be even nicer I feel cheeky just calling up and going 'Hi, yeh, I was wondering if you could sell me a 6800 Ultra for £270 cos the GT's aren't in stock'

According to their site both the 6800GT and the 6800U are 'Available to buy now', guessing that means in stock.

I got my BFG 6800GT OC from them at the end of July, arrived next day, no problems.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
