    I would get an FX6300 over a Core i3 3220.

Also, there is some noise that an HD7790 might be launched in the next few weeks at around £100.

    Motherboard budget?

    For around £50 this one:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/436858-biostar...herboard-ta970

    Its out of stock ATM.

If you are looking to overclock the CPU a decent amount I would get this motherboard:

Re: Best Graphics Card for £100

Intel will be better when it comes to gaming but I believe the FX-6300 can be OCed to match it.

If you go AMD then here are some motherboard choices you have around £90, with the CPU should keep cost under £200

    http://www.ebuyer.com/275728-msi-990...rd-990fxa-gd65

For graphics card you can look at a used Radeon 6850/6870 which will be better than the cards you have mentioned, I'm selling my previous card the 6870 soon if you're interested

Re: Best Graphics Card for £100

The FX6300 is actually faster in a number of modern games when compared to a Core i3 3220.

What games are the OP playing?? What PSU do they have??

The thing is though, the OP actually has a £300 combined budget for the CPU,motherboard and graphics card.

If they don't overclock they could get the FX6300,Biostar 970 motherboard and an HD7850 2GB:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/409191-amd-fx-...-fd6300wmhkbox

    http://www.ebuyer.com/436858-biostar...herboard-ta970

    http://www.ebuyer.com/394762-powerco...50-2gbd5-2dhpp

The HD7850 PCS+ is probably the best HD7850 2GB and is pre-overclocked to 1GHZ,meaning it probably is very close to a GTX660 or HD7870.

The OP wants to overclock the CPU at a later date, that Asus motherboard would do the job,and they should still get an HD7850 1GB into the budget,or perhaps the HD7790 1GB if actually exists.

Well rumors suggest that AMD is working on a HD 7790 code named "Boniare XT." Maybe released by Q3 of this year.

That's an easy one: AMD FX processors like the FX6300 do not have onchip graphics. Only AMD's FM1/FM2 CPUs have built in graphics. Although there may some AM3+ boards where the motherboard's chipset has graphics but that's not the same thing.

Oh and here are some Tomb Raider CPU benches

The i3 performs very poorly here (and in Crysis3 and a few other recent titles), plus the FX6300 can overclock a bit whereas the i3 cannot.
