time to take the plunge - TFT 1760NX

ok with the tower on its way... gfx/cpu/dvd/cdrw already collecting dust... its time to work out HOW im going to but my nice shiny black NEC 1760NX (sometimes BX following the NX denotes black bezel)

My price aim... around 360+delivery (nice n easy...)

My difficult aim... no dead pixels...

so either i need to find a place that will do one for about £10... or somewhere where i could return the monitor easily... as i "didnt really like it"

    any suggestions?

Not sure where to go but in the box comes a leaflet gving you a website address for the NEC NaviSet download. This includes a setting which gives you tons of test screens to show up any dead pixels..... I tried it and (thank god) never seen 1 dead pixel.....

I think the 1760's are pretty tolerant with dead pixels TBH....

you sure about the 1760? .. amazon are doing the LG L1710B for £339 at the moment (free delivery over £25)

the LG has DVI and a USB hub.. which AFAIK the NEC doesn't.

    up to you though

I ordered mine form nexnix.co.uk yesterday. Cost 370squid including next day delivery, probs one of the best prices around.

As for the no dead pixel, they wont check this particular screen, BUT.. they dont have any terms and conditions on their site, so I believe that I am free to interpret the distance selling regulations in their most liberal sense, and I can therefore return the monitor within 7 days for no reason, as long as the contents are in their original condition, and the packaging is resealable.

This isnt 100% sure to work I know, but it seems within the legal limits, I hope youll agree.

I am currently waiting for the courier to arrive, and I will post about how the product was recieved, and about any dead pixels I find as soon as i get it running.

Lets hope all this worrying is for no reason tho eh

believe me, ive looked around, and tried to find somewhere, but you wont get the low price, and the returns policy, as its the smaller companies who have better, and easier to contact, customer services. However, novatech have a good returns policy (of so it seems from their terms and conditions), and they also have good customer service lines, tho they sell for 5% more than the cheap places. their NEC 1760NX totals to around 380 quid, i havent added delivery either.

I'm still waiting on my monitor from nexnix, god damn them, although I cant complain that its not got here by 10am, seeings as I ordered it at 5 yesterday

    hehe

the 1760nx series seems pretty good on the whole dead pixel front... havent seen/heard many complaints... i guess its creditcard time... and refund if dodgy

now just to pick the retail outlet...
