GTX 285 worth replacing (£200 budget)

I've got an ageing GTX 285 in my PC and it does ok in pretty much all I throw at it in low to medium settings. Just wondering if its worth replacing with a 7870 (or 660) or am I unlikely to see much improvement? Its very hard to tell on benchmarks as the are so many generations apart...

(This might be a silly question as they are so many generations apart but I get the feeling the jumps of the last few generations at mid range haven't been great unlike the good old days when a two generation jump would double performance at the same price point!).

If I don't get a new GPU the budgets going on a larger SSD (64Gb isn't enough!) so only want to upgrade if its worth it!

I just had a look at some older benchmarks, I had a GTX460 GS GLH, and that was about 40-50% faster than the 285 across a range of games. And I know newer cards like the 7870 (especially the XT) blow the 460 out of the water. It will be a massive upgrade I'm sure, because you are going to jump 2 process shrinks 55>40>28nm.

I might go for the GPU upgrade and suck up the load times.

For £200~ a HD7950 would be my pick. Your looking at 3x performance for less power use. Pixmania and I think WAEPlus had 7950's under £200 with 3 games.

Thanks guys. I've found a 7950 at scan for £209 and it's an msi which seems a pretty good deal. Probably go with that..

I would wait a little bit to see what the market offers especially if you have a 280
