    Question Decent Camera

I don't want anything great - just something that works, and takes pictures that are OK. It doesn't have to be the best camera ever etc. So I'm not asking if this is any good (because people will always suggest better, more expensive ones), instead, is there anything wrong with it?

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=57505

It is a digital camera that comes with an optical mouse for £64.99. I'm quite glad that it comes with a mouse - as my parents are in need of another (xmas present!).

    * So, is there anything wrong with the camera (or even the mouse) that I should watch out for?

    * How long (approx) do you think the batteries will last (very important)

    * Also, it says about an expansion slot for more memory - does this replace the old memory, or use both at the same time, and will it make it really bulkey?

Sorry - I know NOTHING about cameras (especially digital ones ).

Thanks - I've seen very mixed reviews on the net, but if all looks well, I could be owning this in the near future!

    Good luck!

Its got a digital zoom, thats a big no no on cheaper cameras. Have a look on ebay for a 2mp digital by nikon or similar. There are plenty of places selling coded stock from warrenty repairs. I paid £65 for my coolpix 2000, it would have cost over £200 new. For £60 you should be bale to get a 2mp camera with good optical zoom, I would try nad get a camera as small as possible as you would tend to use it more.

no offence mate - but do you really want something that will only produce good to poor images?

i know you may not want to, but if you upped your budget to £100 you could get something decent, like a Canon A60, Pentax 33LF, Minolta 21

I'm not hugley bothered about a camera, it's just that I saw something cheap, and if it's "not bad", then I might get it. It might be useful for the times I need a digital camera. I hardley ever use one, therefore I don't really want to pay too much for one. If it really isn't any good, then I won't get one.

batteries: rechargable high power ni-mh batteries are a must for digital cameras - they all drain even high power alkaline batteries EXTREMELY quickly.

re memory - you probably won't be able to use both memory at the same time, even if the 16mb is built in.

you could get a minolta (eg dimage 2300) 2mp digital camera on ebay for about £40 with a 64mb card as a good price comparison - and the minolta will probably produce better images even though it's a couple of years old.

you can also get a 2mp, 3x optical zoom digital camera from amazon.co.uk made by premier for £50! - probably much better than the creative, plus it's got the optical zoom - and you get free postage.
