Unhappy XFX GeForce 6800 128 ddr and Doom 3.

Hello again folks! I need help (and a drink)!!! Just fitted the gf6800 in my pc and am somewhat dissappointed. Here's my specs: enermax coolermaster 480w psu, ECS K7S5A mobo (4x agp), athlon xp 2400+, 512meg ddr, GF 6800 128 ddr,(61.77 drivers), soundblaster live, win xp pro SP2. On running timedemo 1 in doom 3 I'm only getting low to mid 20s fps in high quality 1280x1024 and 1152x864. Even dropping to 1024x768 only gives 29fps. Reducing further to medium quality gives 30-34 fps through the various resolutions. From what I've read , with my spec I should be hitting 40fps in high quality 1024x768. Also on exiting the game I get the message " Windows virtual memory minimum too low". Any help or suggestions to increase the framerate in HQ mode would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

i just recently got the same graphics card, and i couldnt play doom 3 in high settings, kept stuttering due to me only have 512mb of memory, but as soon as i got a gig it works fine.

however i could run in medium settings fine with 512mb,

also, virtual memory is where ur com uses space of ur harddrive as memory, this is quite slow compared to system memory. if it is saying u have low virtual memory u either have hardly any harddisk space left, in which case u should free some or it is set to only use a little amount of space, to check go in control panel > system > advanced - then theres a box saying performance with a setting button, - it says i have around 1.5gig worth for a comparison.

and another thing, i have noticed that if u load up doom 3 and play for a few secs then turn the game off and back on again it is quite abit faster, about 20fps faster on mine.

and if its helpful, i more o less have the same system as u apart from system mem, and i get constant 60fps with a few drops here and there at 1152 X 864 in high settings.
