Nvidia GT640 GDDR5

Anybody got any details on the new gddr5 equipped GT640's that are popping up in shops?

I know the gddr3 640's are a bit lame but I think that was down the memory bandwidth. I have noticed also that the new versions only come with 64bit memory bus.

Could be an alternative to the 6670's / 7750's possibly and at £60 might be a bargain!?

Er, which one?

GT640 really needs a big table:
First there's the DDR3 and GDDR5 you already mentioned.
Then there's the core: GK107, GF116 and GK208.
So that's two Kepler-based ones plus one Ferni. Looks like at least one has a 64-bit GDDR5 bus.
128-bit DDR3 = 64-bit GDDR5. Crazy. No reviews that I could find of the new GK208.

Hexus did promise a review in their HD7730 review:

Nvidia has just introduced a new GeForce GT 640 (Revision B, GK208) that is a natural competitor to the HD 7730, and we'll be looking at its performance in a later review by also comparing it to the GK107-based chip that's widely available.

But that hasn't materialised yet. In the meantime, stay away until benched is what I say.
This might just be the most confusing GPU name ever; I think Nvidia marketing should get award for it! But obviously it's meant to sell to those people who don't look at reviews.

The gddr3 GT640 runs around the same speed as a AMD6670 so I'd expect the gddr5 version to be at least inbetween a 6670 and 7750 which would make it a decent deal at £60ish.

Doubt it will be anywhere close to a 7750. That is the new GK208 version with the 64-bit memory bus:

Faster than the GK107 DDR3 version but it only has around half the bandwidth of the OEM-only GK107 GDDR5 version.

The 7750 GDDR5 is 67.1GB/s while the DDR3 version is 23.8GB/s so this will possibly not suffer as much but it will still be a lot slower than the GK107 GDDR5 version.
