6800 would be a waste of your money though, the improvement over a 9800pro isnt worth it, especially if you flash your pro to an XT.

I would compare the 6800 to a FX5200 when the FX series started out. Looks good at the time, but in reality cant cut it.

the 6800 COULD be more of an improvement if you unlock the pipes in rivatuner, and o/c it.

true but even then its not worth the extra money a 9800pro will run CS Source @ 50-80ftp with everything maxed out @ 1600x1200 [not AA or AF but u dont need it at that res anyhow]

The 6800 is more powerfull than that, it's the 6200 that's taking the same place as the FX5200 at the low end.

Here is a review where the 6800 is put up against a 9800XT (Hexus ofcourse ).
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

6800 is fractionally faster as a 128mb model (have used one for a week) than my 9800Pro ......it also overclocked well, and by then was about 3000 points higher in 3dMark 2001.

However, I put the 9800Pro back in, and instantly got the image quality back in Il-2....however if you dont play Il-2 Forgotten Battles, then the 6800 is faster, and frankly a bit better.

    No good for me tho.

But if you can get a 9800Pro for about £125 ish quid...you are flying...best bang per buck...just

Wow performance is great for a 128MB card, I may have to get this one as its about half the price of an x800 pro and is almost level in performance terms. I would definately go for the 6800 rather than the 9800 pro - just look at the benchmark results, the 6800 is easily the winner because it beats a 9800xt!.

steady there Timmy!!! ...clam down chap .

it is a good card....but it has NO bragging rights...at all. Everyone will ask why you got a 6800 not a GT or an Ultra....

    can you handle that?

Bragging rights - I dont care what card it is as long as it plays games at a decent level, I just dont have the money for bragging rights.

And it seems to have decent bang for buck, or am I missing somethig here?

Cant the 6800 be overclocked to the GT speeds anyway?

Almost, but it will lag behind due to its slow memory (128mb ddr vs 256mb ddr3)

But if you get a GT you can overclock that to an ultra

Id go for the 6800. Certainly worth the extra over the 9800pro I wouldnt even consider a 9600xt if you are serious about gaming.

The 6800 is a far superior card to the 9800xt. On a stock mid range socket A system a 6800non ultra scores 8-9k in 3dmark03. Also there is every chance that you can unlock the rest of the pipex of vertex units by using the new rivatuner. The 6800nu provides sufficient gains in games with the visual effects of sm3 and HDR which make it a better buy than 9800xt's

6800 would be compares to 9800Xt i would think. If u can afford get it. It will possibly last longer than the 9800s due to direct x 9c configuration.
