I have the 6870, just curios.. would it be worth it to upgrade? I know performance is better... but by that much? Or, would I be better off saving a little more and going higher... or.. get an R7?

What PSU and CPU do you have?? What case?? What is your budget??
I would get a GTX660 or R9 270 if possible.
I used to have a 6870 card and I think you would notice an improvement but (imho) not enough to justify spending ~£110-£120 pound, a 6870 and 5870 are not massively different so googe bencrmark comparison between 5870/6870 and the 750Ti and you get an idea of them improvement. However, much like CAT-THE-FIFTH I would advise you save a bit longer and maybe get a 270X or 660 (they are more expensive and perhaps your budget is tight but you will notice the difference much more I think.
System
Enermax iVektor Case (won it! - using it now)
be quiet! dark rock pro 3
be quiet! dark power pro 10 850 (won theese too!!!! - havent gotten them yet - just won on monday!)
currently
ASUS p5q pro e8500
8 gb ram
HD 6870
plan is to get an i5 4670 and MSI or ASUS MB + Ram (looking to spend 300-400 USD)
the gfx card will be the next step...just wanted to know how much to save (or if i happen to be lucky enough to win one.. it will be an improvement )
750 Ti has only 128bit...
you should go for a GTX650 Ti boost 192bit
I thought the 750ti out performed the 650ti boost in almost every situation?
As to your question, only upgrade if you're not satisfied with your current situation. If you're going to, then the 750ti is a very good product
The hexus 750 Ti review has a 6870 for comparison purposes. The difference is perhaps bigger than you might expect: 25% - 50% depending on game at 1080p
OTOH, the R9 270 is quicker again by about the same amount (that is, 25% - 50% faster than the 750 Ti) while only costing £15 more.
Interestingly, the 650 Ti Boost is generally a shade quicker than the 750 Ti.
I would save up and get a R9 280X
At £150 there is no competition to the R9 270X really. Your PSU is more than man enough for the job
The R9 270 can be found for as low as £120 if you want to save a few £££, and when overclocked is basically equivalent to the 270X. Or for nearer £100 you can choose between the R7 265 and the 750 Ti, depending on whether you want a bit more performance or much lower power consumption. It's all a matter of preference really.
But if you've got £150 to spend, get a 270X
got the
R9 270 BF4 edition wow makes a difference GFX wise
I'd say to go for a 7850 personally, they are cheaper than the gtx 660, but are the closest competitive option.
