    GTX 760 or 270X

I've seen the similar thread "760 or 280X", where the 280 gets a clean sheet. The 280X is a bit pricey for me

I can see an MSI R9 270X HAWK and and MSI GTX 760X twin Frozr within £5 of each other - both 2Gb.

There's also the MSI R9 270X Gaming (looks like a Twin Frozr from the images) for £152 ish at Scan

Which of the 3 would you recommend? I'm leaning towards the 270X Gaming for the price and the good things I've heard on the cooler, but not sure if I'd be better off long-term with the 760?

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

Just this week I looked at the same 3 in the end I went for the OC gaming edition of that 760 MSI card. It was £158.00 (Amazon via FLubit) and I felt for the money it was probably the best card. The same card is on Scan at the moment with Daylight for about 170. If you had free delivery it would probably be worth it.

On a side note; one of the things I was interested in was the implementation of current/new Direct X vs Mantle in future generation games. The general conclusion was that there wasn't enough out there yet to swing me toward down the AMD route today.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I think I will be doing the same, the 760 outperforms and overclocks a little better from what I can see, and is pretty quiet. Should play everything I've got (and will get).

Mantle was one thing that was stalling me, but it's not going to benefit a huge amount of games before I'm ready to upgrade. I usually don't play brand new games for a while anyway.

Not heard of Flubit before, seems interesting.

Last nvidia card I had was a Riva TNT 2 ..

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I haven't ever had a decent Graphics card, I've been a "console kid" since '83!

I hadn't used Flubit before but I've saved between 6% and 12% on the lowest Amazon/marketplace* price I've found -they often offer as little as 3% you just reject the offer and "demand" it again. It can take a bit longer to get everything, but the saving:time ratio just about makes up for it (and I'm a Prime member-for now).

(*I found out marketplace sellers have to have over 500 ratings)

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

The Scan deal you mentioned seems alright, presuming I can offload the game somewhere for a bit of a discount. Should have free Scan delivery with all the garbage I've spouted on Hexus

Shame the long weekend means I won't get it 'til mid next week

I signed up with Flubit, but I'm in a queue as they apparently have too many members. Oh well, If I get in over the weekend I might use it.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

Uggh - had an offer for a new Sapphire 270x Dual-X OC for £100 last night so went for that instead. Can't say no to a discount, specially for my budget-ish build.

Reviews seemed good and only a few dB louder than the Twin Frozrs. Sure it'll be fine - for now.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I bought the powercolor 270x devil and I think it's awesome fantastic card. However, based on the price drop of the 760 I would go with the 760 now. Still love my card and you can't go wrong with either one.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I'm in the market for these three cards as well, I saw a Powercolor 280x for £190 the other day, I know the brand isn't the best, but it's around £30 more than the other two, but is that money worth the upgrade?

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I've had two powercolor cards in ' my life and both have really impressed me. I would have no worries recommending them. Xfx on the other hand I would never go near for bad experience. I may just have been unlucky.
I bought the powercolor radeon 270x devil because the 280x was in very short supply and I felt the 760 was overpriced at the time. The product is of really high quality an looks gorgeous in my system. Powercolor I trust. I'm actually happy the 280x was out of stock because my 270x does th job great!

I would take the 280x for the extra £30.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

Most of my cards have been Sapphire (although in an ideal world where prices were the same I'd go MSI at the moment). I've had a PowerColor card in the past and it cooked itself pretty quickly, probably my dust palace but I've also heard their RMA/CS process is the pits.

Up to the 280 I'd go NVidia. Just for PhysX, if you play batman. After that the price gap is too high so go AMD.
I've got the R9 290 tri-X and it is phenomenal.

    Re: GTX 760 or 270X

I have an msi twin frozr gtx 760 I personally find it brilliant and can handle any game maxed out with steady frames. I see no reason to even upgrade for a while because 10-20fps isn't worth it
