    9800 pro overclocks

Hi, i have just put the ati 1 arctic cooler on my 9800 pro because the rev 3 didnt fit properly. I'm getting about 444 core and 365 mem. how does this sound, what have all you guys acheived with your 9800 pros? I have about a 650 gain in 3d mark 03 upto 6050 points which im quite pleased with.

p.s I had to make some modifications to the ati silencer 1.

I had to take a penknife to part of the exhaust plastic so it would fit over a component on my sapphire 9800 pro.

    here is the page.
Also, the bracket had a rubber stopper underneath which i had to file down so the screws would fit because the screws didnt have enough clearence over the bracket. Apart from that, it's really quiet and i'm pretty pleased with it.

I have a HIS excalibur 9800 pro which i believe is a standard 9800pro with the arctic cooler and i managed to get 432 core and 360 mem. Mind you, this is with really poor airoflow through an old case so i guess it could be more. So i guess your clocks are ok.

The old 9800pro still keeping me running through everything, doom3 etc. Havent tried half life 2 yet, waiting to complete some other games then i hope i can run it fine! Fingers crossed!

That sounds pretty good for 9800pro, slightly better than average on the core, a little below on the memory. Just out of interest what is the code on the memory i.e xxxxxxRA GC2A

ALL R300/350/360 cards are capable of high clocks if cooled properly and given enough voltage.

The GPU is the SAME,very minor differences.

The changes are in stock voltage, with 9800p being 1.7v, where as the 9700 was 1.5v.

Once that is corrected, I had my 9700np upto 452 on core, and a 9500np (non-softmod) upto the same. Both are cack on mem becuase of infinion 3.3 chips.

    Withthe 9700np @ 446/315 I managed 6.2k in 3dm2k3, so im a bit suprised your only gettin 6k. The 9500 gets 4.2k! (the 9700 at stock 275/275 got 4.8k!)

The differences between R300 and R350 cards is the layout and the other components needed. With modification a 9800pro should be good for 500-550, although Ive never had one to test that theory.

I've got the R360 Core flashed to XT and running at 430/378, it's fitted with Tweakmonster RAM sinks and a Revision 3 VGA Silencer (yes it does fit, where did you get that from :S) Looking forward to fitting a Maze 4 GPU to it, should break 7k in 3DMark03

I got 410 core and 360/720 mem on my Radeon with standard cooler....just a bit of Arctic Silver to get it seated cooly.

That has been 24/7 for over 9 months, all summer long and at 12 hour LAN sessions.

Never went higher cos I love my card and that was all I wanted to ask of her

how do you guys go about overclocking it because i have used ati tool to find max core and it goes up to about 450 then after about 7 hours gets to about 396. I'm not sure i can trust this and the artifact scanner doesnt seem accurate. What programs to you use to find artifacting because i'm sure i can get higher than 430 ande how long do you run it for to get an accurrate reading? Thanks, John.
