I'm curious to know whether the unlocked quad pipe impairs overlocking on LE cards, and if so, to what degree. If you have time, can you test for:-

    Maximum core/mem overclock at 8/5
    Maximum core/mem overclock at 12/5
    Maximum core/mem overlclock at 8/6
    Maximum core/mem overlclock at 12/6

(Overclocks on basis of no artefacting / instability in hour loops of 3DMark03/05.)

If I can find the time I will, this is a good test to see if the newly enabled pipelines are good, I think the test will vary from card to card, some will clock well enabled some won't but just with the pipelines to 12 gets nearly 2 K increase on 03 and if your lucky and get 16 pipes happy days.

How loud is the 6800le, say compared to an arctic cooler on the high setting???

I just purchased a PNY 6600gt and it is terribly loud compared to the 9800se->pro that I had with an arctic cooler rev3 on it. I may be returning the gt because of the fact that it crashes in games for me and the fact that it is pretty damn noisy!

Id say just a little louder than a 9800 pro with artic cooler but certainly not loud or annoying in any way.

Im sure I read somewhere about some 6600's crashing on 3D games but cant find the thread now. You dont sound happy with your card so send it back.

There there are some hardlocked/superlocked cards appearing, but I beleive the author of rivatuner has found a way to unlock those too!
