Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

I'd love one, but I can't really afford it and my current graphics card is nowhere near powerful enough to drive one for anything other than 2D desktop performance.

The other problem is that Windows 7 doesn't scale on 4K monitors very well without a lot of fiddling, and I wouldn't foul my PC with Windows 8, so until a stable retail copy of Windows 10 is available (and certified compatible with all the same games as Windows 7) I don't plan on upgrading my OS.

Part of me would probably also want to consider a 21:9 monitor with a 1440p resolution as my next upgrade, as I doubt I'd be able to justify £1000+ worth of graphics cards and monitor any time soon.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

It would just be too expensive for the monitor and two cards to run it. Quite happy at the 1440p/GTX970 performance at the moment.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

I've every intention of getting a 4K monitor, just as soon as there's a good one available with an IPS screen for around £500 and a second-tier graphics card that's powerful enough to drive it. Until that's the case I'm not bothered and 1440p will do me nicely for another year or two.

Just found an IPS 28" 4K screen for £350 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-P2815Q-...eywords=P2415Q

No idea if it's any good though. Might buy one of those this year if it is any good.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

Just found a review. It's a TN panel and only supports 30Hz at 4k.

    i.e. crap.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

The low price ones are all TN but they are pretty good. The Dell one is the only one that doesn't support 60Hz on Display port.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

Ordered a 30 inch 2560x1600 direct from S Korea last night. Got tracking number from UPS this morning - should arrive Thursday. Probably quicker than I'd get it from Amazon UK standard delivery.

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

I have been looking at the 28" IIyama B2888UHSU 4K Gaming Monitor - from Scan = £380 - it can do 60Hz using DP 1.2 - but this has to be activated as not on by default.

I can't go back to TN. Pretty good or not. I have an IPS monitor right now and I can't stand the TN irritations, no matter how much they reduce them.

I thought that, but I decided to go for it. At present I'm using the TN 4K in the centre flanked by two IPS 2212HM monitors. I'm not into photography etc so don't need accurate colour reproduction, but in day-to-day use I really can't tell the difference.

Can't we just have 1920x1200 monitors back?

    1080p stole my vertical res.

When you've got 2160 vertical 16:9 doesn't really feel like much of a loss

Re: Are You Going To Purchase a 4K Monitor?

Higher dpi and windows doesn't like zooming/increasing in size (yet)

Also larger monitors make it harder to do work
