    GTX 960 Ti?

Does anyone know whether there is going to be GTX 960 Ti? I've heard some rumours about two possible variants but nothing concrete. GTX 960 doesn't seem to cut it but I don't really want to fork out for a 970...

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

If I was making an educated guess, I'd say almost definitely. Nvidia aren't stupid. They've left a massive gap in the market, most likely for the '960 Ti', which currently AMD has offerings in (albeit last generation, such as 280x/290 that out performs the 960 for not all that much more.

Plus, there's a significant performance gap between the 960 and 970.

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

Yep, its almost certain after the lackluster 960. I did see an article while the 960 was just a myth that they were also apparently testing two Ti variants along side it. Presumably one will get released assuming the leaked info is true, we could even see a repeat of the 650 with a Ti and Ti Boost perhaps but its all rumour at this point.

I dont think theres any doubt we'll see at least one to fill the gap though, perhaps they didnt want to release a solid competitor so early considering the 970 is still seen as a very cost effective card to get.

That's what I thought and I've heard about there being the possibility of two variants but not sure how much of that is just rumour. Any ideas on release dates or am I getting ahead of myself?

it depends - IF NVidia get it right then it`ll be awesome BUT if they follow the disabled RoP/ SMM as with the 970 , could be trouble ahead

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

IMHO unless they are going to use the more expensive 970 chips (GM204) and disable more stuff on them (maybe chips that are not good enough for 970 cards) than the GM206 chip I wouldnt think there is any other way of bringing out a TI version unless its just a heavily overclocked version of the original 960. As halloweenjack said this could cause more problems with memory and stuff though as shown with the 970 ATM.

Yeah AFAIK the GM206 is already fully-enabled for the 960.

I guess I'll just watch this space and in the mean time start saving, by the time anything is announced I'll probably have saved enough for a 970 anyway!

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

The GTX 960 ti is basically a lackluster 970 or 980 with disabled handicap cores.
That's the reason they never release it at the same time.
They have to build a scrap pile first.
The GTX 970 disaster might abet a faster release though.
    The good news is this.
Regardless of if the GTX 960 ti or the R300 980 is released first, the other will follow within a month.

The GTX 960 ti will have 3GB vram, 192-bit bus, 168 GB memory bandwidth, 1280 cores, 80 TMU, 48 ROPS.
The GTX 960 has 2GB vram, 128 bit bus, 112GB memory bandwidth, 1024 cores, 64 TMU, 32 ROPS
The GTX 750 (what I have) has 1GB vram, 128 bit bus, 80GB memory bandwidth, 512 cores, 32 TMU, 16 ROPS
So, it will make perfect sense for me to upgrade to 960 ti; tripple vram, double memory bandwidth, 2.5X cores, double TMU, tripple ROPS.
Since my system doesn't have the best power supply, and since I prefer low heat and silent setup, it's an easy decision for me.
This will handle all games @ 1440p and some less demanding games @ 4K

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

I'm running a GTX 750 TI card right now, and looking at what my possible upgrades might be (low watts, low heat, and good performance all being important factors for me). The 960 looks like it would almost double my graphics speed (passmark of 6029, versus 3684), and the upgrade would put me in a good spot, where I wouldn't need to do upgrades for a bit. But now I'm reading rumours they may be coming out with a GTX 960 TI, maybe a GTX 950, maybe a GTX 950 TI, or who knows what. So I'll probably just be sitting on the sidelines for a few months or so, to see what happens.

    Re: GTX 960 Ti?

I think you will be lucky to get as 960ti unless they cut the 970 down even ore to get it.

Wylus just buy the 960 if you can afford it and be happy instead of constantly waiting and getting nothing.
