Thanks for that; I think it will help to an extent but it also states:

"DisplayPort not detecting when waking from sleep

Some people have reported that the monitor doesn’t power up when you wake your computer from sleep. In that case, just turn the Dell U2414H OFF and then back ON. It should detect it now. This is probably a firmware issue, check on Dell website if there are any updates available for your monitor."

Thats why I'm keen to cover all options & get a card with 2 DVI & 2 DP

    Either?

They are both display adaptors and will interface your main board with your display equipment.

Unless you are "ultra pro" which is to suggest you may need a 10 bit color workflow, there's no need to worry for photo editing.

There's been a bit of a historical debate as to if a AMD or NVID card are better at display output, I've even entered into it myself once or twice, however DVI is digital now as are the other main standards so grab anything your Display will plug into given photo editing is your main req.

    Best

    edit - avoiding bugs notwithstanding

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)

Looking at building this exact (i7-5820 & gtx970) same setup atm, wondering what you ended up with since its been several months since this discussion? I found this article on AMD/ Nvida re: Cuda vs Opencl very informative, interesting as well. I will probably use my pc for some photo editing several 1000 images/ yr, 3d modeling and some video editing work. It appears Cuda help speed up everthing in the video pipline. ps.. Thanks for you discussion!
