They are standards, clearly defined. because you don't want to use them, that doesn't mean the rest of the world won't. TV standards or not, they are used in computing now. We essentially have cut-down TVs connected to our PCs, so it makes sense.

1080p is 1080 lines. FHD then defines it to be 1920 wide. The problem with using FHD is most people will not know what you mean, say 1080p and they assume it's 1920x1080.


And plenty of PS3 games were 1080i.
