Will I be able to run most games on high with XFX 280x?

I want to buy the XFX R9 280x but what type of games will run on this card also what speeds would I be getting from it

Do you have any particular games in mind?

It would also be helpful to know what resolution you'll want to use and some details about the rest of your system e.g. what CPU you're using.

I have a 280X myself and run most games on high-ultra at 1080p so as a rough guide you should be fine.

Remember that high means nothing at all.

I can run COH on at 1280x800 on high at 30+ fps on my intel gma 4500 based laptop

What is your current PC spec and the resolution you want to game at? What is your budget for buying a 280X? How long do you expect your upgraded graphics card to last? What sort of games are you wanting to play?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but getting an idea of what you have and want will go a long way towards getting good advice from many of the members here who've got loads of experience.

Yeah high/ultra/etc are completely arbitrary terms, but I'm assuming relatively new mainstream games, the sort of thing generally tested by review sites.
