    dell graphics card upgrade

Have looked in older post but not found what i am loooking for.
Hi first looked on this site 9 years ago and nearly bought some other random make of pc, went with Dell and still going strong no problems of any kind. My spec is dual core 1.8GHz and 3gb of ram and my queerie is about graphics card upgrade.

I have just been given a compaq and spec is dual core1.66 GHz and 2ghb ram I want to use the compaq in my office but it slow and has no graphics card and so i thought about taking the one from the dell (Radeon x1300 256mb) and using that and getting another to replace it. This seems the cheapest option.

How much improvement would a new card ( EVGA G210 1GB DDR3 VGA DVI HDMI Passive Low Profile PCI-E Graphics Card) do in the dell, it suits as i do not want to upgrade the psu yet, is silent and will work with xp 32 bit. It is only £23 ish. PS have looked in older post but not found waht i am loooking for

Core count and clockspeed are only relevant information when the design of the chip is known. A brand new 1.66Ghz dual core would potentially be three or four times as fast as your 1.8Ghz dual core. You're better off quoting the model number. So yours would probably be a Core 2 Duo E4300.

As to your question, the G 210 is a 2009 chip so you'd have to look at posts and pages from back then to get an idea of it's speed. I'd expect it to be a bit faster than the equally bottom of the range 2005 X1300 you have now but they're only sold for their features.

It all depends what you want it for.

Why do you need to upgrade the graphics?
