    TFT prices bottoming out?

at less then £150 for a 17 inch TFT I reckon the manufs arent making that
much money on them now. Have the prices near enough bottomed out?
If not how low can they go do you reckon?

I say roll on the OLED displays this summer.... i wonder how long it will
take them to get down to a reasonable price.... also i have heard they
have response times of around 2 ms.

It does seem like they are dropping rapidly atm however alot of the top spec lcd / tft monitors are still staying rather pricey. However those digitech ones for £130 a pop for 17" 16ms screens are really good, brought one for a friend and was very impressed.

The new type of displays are ment to set a new industry stantard of 8ms max. will be interesting to see how much they come out at and how they will effect the prices of TFT even more.

can i just say that come on, what normal person can see a difference between responce time below 16ms, even if they could i would not make much difference, especially compare to high quality screens.

Nvening when they quote 16 ms it doesnt mean that it actually is able to show all
shades of grey (and hence colours) by 16 ms. That can be an average or the lowest
level. People compain about ghosting as some levels can be up to 90 ms which people
    can easily notice.

Kumagoro is right. The way the timing is recorded is by swapping between two colours that are really close together. Its different in real life gaming.

a GOOD 17" TFT at 16ms is good...period. But an average one is difficult to get used to.

Samsung's dead pixel policy does not apply to the EU market last I heard, so they aren't really different to other manufacturers

I picked up an 17" L1715S for 170 quid a few months ago and it's been great for me. I'm not sure how much they are now, but it definately beats paying up2 100 pounds more for others which are basically the same.
