    Hyundai ImageQuest L90D+ 8mS TFT

Does anyone know if this monitor has a proper 24-bit (i.e. 16.7 million) panel? Most sites do show this to be a 16.7m colour display but one review site I read said it wasn't. From the price on a couple of sites I would expect it to be a 24-bit panel but there seems to be a lot of creative marketing concerning TFT's at the moment!

I would expect it to definatly be a 16.2m colour LCD - note that im not sure how they work it out to be 16.2, as afaik they only use 262,141 acctuall different colours.

Ask hyundia, either send them a mail or phone there uk/europe office assuming they have one..

Correct me if Im wrong but I dont think any tfts lower than 16ms exist in 16.7m colours yet..

Also, theres a huuge difference between 16.2m tfts. Some look good - even better than some 16.7m tft's, and some look crap (imo the sony SDM-HP94 is a good example).

Im currently using a viewsonic VX912 and theres no noticable colour problems (banding etc..) from normal viewing distance - whereas the sony I tryed did. Its probably best if you see the tft irl before you buy it, and the best way for that is to goto a LAN and find someone playing games on one.. (as its probably not in pcworld yet..)

I dug around a bit and found a UK Hyundai ImageQuest site. Sent off an e-mail as per your suggestion so will await the reply with interest. There's some pretty good deals on this monitor at the moment (around £360 inc. VAT), so if it is a full 24-bit panel then it's a bargain as it is 8mS and has both VGA and DVI inputs with a very good contrast ratio (700:1).

You can also swivel the display to portrait or landscape mode (similar to the ViewSonic VP912s which was my preferred choice until I saw the price drop on this one).

Micro Direct have got this monitor on special offer (around £360). They state it is 24-bit (16.7 million colours) in the product details section. Here's the URL:

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Product...33&GroupID=434

Hence, i've just ordered it. I was wondering though, if it turns out not to be 24-bit then would I be able to return it?

The official spec on the screen is 16.7Mil colour.

Ive had one running directly alongside a Sony SDM-HS94PS (the Xblack version) and to be honest, running Doom III there wasnt much in it, but the Hyundai was the one I prefered. I think the Sony would have been better in a darker surrounding as the XBlack screen did reflect the overhead lights quiet alot.

I've now got one! I like it a lot but there's only a CRT and a Dell laptop TFT to compare against. For the price it is very good.

Compared to my viewsonic, which has a nice matt finnish, perfrect for a monitor, the Xblack has a mirror finnish. Even in the darkI could see my reflection..
Sonys are more to look at than to use... imo
