Anybody had anything to do with these 8ms beasties yet as they look pretty good on spec tho` I`m not sure how the A-Si (?) panel performs.
My 2 test monitors (Ag Neovo`s) are going back to work to replace a pair that somebody managed to knock off a desk and I`m left with my 1980U so I thought I`d invest in something really decent to keep for myself.
Not that theres much wrong with the AGs as they are good, especially on the dvi input but I want a high quality graphics screen as well as gaming use and this actually looks quite reasonable.
I really want 1600x1200 but the prices are still too silly for home use yet.

I've got one - using it now. I just plugged it in and have not adjusted any settings (using DVI). Flight Simulator 2004 running at 50+ FPS is very smooth. It's a very bright monitor so it's hard to look at with the lights off! Simple, basic design. PSU is embedded so you only get a power cable and DVI or VGA cable hanging out of it. Installing the base took all of a few seconds. Height adjustable base, pivotable screen (portrait/landscape). All in all, pretty good value. Photographs look good as skin tones are reproduced accurately. It's got built-in speakers but these are useless and there was not cable for speakers in the one I received. You get both VGA and DVI cables included with the monitor.

DVD playback not that good at the moment - more a problem with my software DVD player so i'm just re-installing that.

Edit: Sorted out my software DVD player. DVD playback is awesome on this monitor!

I think it sounds good for what I need as I do a fair bit of digital video and stills editing and really need accurate colours for printing off samples and edited shots as well as running a powerful editor.
But I also need to get high speed run throughs and still not get too much motion blur so I need a fast screen. Anybody ever tried editing 200 or 300 hours of video will know what I mean......
And I still want to game to relieve the stress.
The 1980u is quite good but I miss my pair of big Iiyamas` which weighed about half a ton and could burn your eyes out from 60 paces. What I don`t need is the space and power they used to consume, running 24/7 and I could always use an extra monitor above the 2 in use to keep an eye on other things.
Come to think of it, I could also use some dvi switching on the Omniview to cover the other servers in here....Oh God.....more budget to find......

I just ran the Nokia monitor test program on it (see my other post in the Graphics section) and it worked a treat. Still not 100% convinced about true 16.7m colours though. I'm trying to find a way of proving that this monitor has a proper 24-bit panel.
