    9800 pro problems

I was using a 5500 nvidia on my m7ncd pro motherboard but I just bought a new 9800 pro tonight.

When I cleared all the nvidia drivers and uninstalled the display I put the new card in. Directly from bootup it does show something but its just garbled crap. It will boot into windows but I cant see anything but a whole lot of lines up and down and a big square cursor also made of lines that I can move around.

I hear some people say that its a problem trying to put an ATI card in a computer that was using nvidia and to reinstall windows....well I am not sure how I can do that since I cant see anything with the ATI card in.

    Clearing the cmos didnt help.

If anyone knows what I could do please let me know.

p.s. I can get the display back by putting the 5500 back in even though it has no drivers.

I had similar probs going from ATI to Nvida, you could try with the 5500 card in uninstalling the motherboard drivers, then booting in to safemode (keep pressing F8 at bootup till you get the screen where you can select safemode) then run drivercleaner to get rid of any reminants that are left of the preveious, gfx and motherboard drivers, swap out the 5500 for the 9800 pro (you did connect the power connector to the card) and reinstall the motherboard drivers then the gfx drivers..... see how you go.

If it's showing a garbled display in bios (ie before windows loads) then it's likely to be a hardware fault. If you can, try it in another computer to make sure.

Thanks for the responses. I havent tried it in another computer but everything was connected correctly and I got rid of every last bit of nvidia drivers and nothing. I even connected the power cable in th exact manner they describe, through a hard drive etc. The display is garbled from the second the monitor recieves a signal which leads me to believe its probably a bad card.
