fine methinks, loaded up in safe mode according to one of the pop up meu's there's a problem with my 9700pro or its drivers.

the agp protect led is on aswell and im not to sure what to try next...........

Must be serious if Windows can't even load to the desktop. Are (or were) you o/c'ing at all? No recent hw or sw changes (inc updates)? Always been stable before? Can you try the card in another PC?

I had a similiar experience myself last week, went into safemode removed the drivers and all third-party programs.

Used driver-cleaner 2.0 to clean it out
run reg cleaner to clear all ATI registry files.

Checked the hardrive for anything ATI related in the TEMP file and program files, deleted them all and also downloaded a fresh copy of the catalyst 3.7 just incase they were corrupted.

Also a little trick i do is installing the drivers but saying no when it says to restart.

Then going into control panel, adminstrative tools, services

And disabling ATI hot key poller
And changing ATI Smart to manual
then restarting and letting XP load properly
then when it is finished i go back to services and set ATI smart to Automatic again and also press the RMB on 'ATI smart' and select start

then it will test your machine for compatibility with the 9700.

    Hope this helps you m8

It maybe related, i checked on google by pasting exactly the error you had and i kept finding it match videocard drivers and recommended re-installing them..

Have never had that error myself though.
