    Next-level scalping

I never met a scalper I liked, but this is scalping on an entirely new level......not just of greed, but stupidity too. I know there are some folks out there who can, and do, pay 3090 money for a 3080FE in this current climate. But does this plum honestly think he's going to get a sale at this price? Unbelievable.

Very decent of him to offer FREE next day delivery though. What a good sport

Thanks, I've been struggling to find one I could afford. That makes it doable. £569 what a bargain! I'll message the seller and let him know he's typoed the price though.

Possibly someone trying to make use of the ebay £1 final value fees but without a card but hoping to get one?

he has the make an offer option, which coupled with the high price meaning if you sort price high-low, he will show up easily and get offers from people. it costs practicly nothing to list, and some people have money, so it's a low risk chance

True, I didn’t really register the ‘make offer’ button. I’d love to know what sort of discount he’s open to though. Even 50% would still mean paying almost double the RRP for a 3090 (which is already not great in terms of bang for buck), for a 3080. I guess, like you say, there are people out there with money. Or more money than sense.

    Re: Next-level scalping

ebay auto limits the spread of offers IIRC, so anything too wide of the mark gets auto blocked unless the seller goes to lengths to override it. The seller doesn't even get told about auto-blocked bids.

This is a bit like the chancers trying to sell Mario 3D Allstars for £2000 just because it's no longer available on the e-shop. Still plenty physical copies at standard price from retailers for the moment. In Yong-yeas video he was even showing ebay sellers in the states listing it for $45000, they're on another planet.

It probably doesn't help that there are some people who will pay inflated prices though - albeit I doubt to the extent of the ones you and dannyboy75 mentioned.

After all, people were buying iPhones with Flappy Bird on when it was removed from the iPhone App Store.

There will always be people with more money than sense, and so there will always be greedy people willing to take advantage of that fact.

The only time that such an occurrence makes sense, is when the money is going to charity or similar Non-Profit Organisation (a legitimate one of course, not someone lying about it going to one or lying that they are one themselves, and not one of those where the seller claims the money is going to charity but is only actually giving a very small percentage either).
