    Yeah, that is really bad.

Now this clearly isn't a card I want to buy, but given it is aimed at laptops (apparently confirmed on Phoronix) with the 6000 series APU that raises another question...

Why pair a 16 CU graphics card with an APU that at the top end is about as fast? Can AMD combine the two in some new SLI configuration that actually works?

    Re: RX6500XT review thread

It seems no German site got any 6500 XT review samples, and while CB are far too polite (I once posted in their forums about AMD not allowing B450 and Zen3 and someone from the editorial team basically said complaints like that are best made in private...), Igor is not so polite!
    https://www.igorslab.de/tests-der-am...r-diese-karte/
For some reason he didn't run this piece to through the translater as it's only in German, but Google can make a hash of translating it:

Do love it when reviewers don't mince their words.

Hybrid SLI would be very interesting or even just leaving the APU to apply some post-processing stuff.

As for the bolded? Well, why pair a Intel Iris Pro part with a MX350 or similar crazy OEM choices? Because marketting believes that being able to checkbox "dedicated GPU" is a big selling point - and unfortuantely sales numbers bear that out. On those crazy configured laptops, the MX350 might as well be called "battery drainer".

Anyone else thinking this was originally planned to be a 6300 XT and then shortages happened and names got changed?

Maybe even a lower card. Just looking at the compromises to get the die size and board complexity down I'm not even sure it was planned to be an x300 part!

Me too. Some people just have to "support" something and I guess that some have that desire but don't choose <insert sports team here>

    Re: RX6500XT review thread

Overall this could be a slight upgrade to my R9 290, but even at RRP its not worth it.

Seems the scalpers aren't selling, showing one sold at £260, there is one local saying collection only with best offer. If not sold in 7 days I will send an offer of £125.00 as it second hand with no warranty (is still sealed etc).

On OcUK forums I pointed out people are trying to find Diamonds in a pile of turds. Just because companies release something it doesn't mean its good or you need to buy it. Also just because one release is "better" than another doesn't make it really any better.

The specs make it out as an RX560 successor. Just like AMD rebranded the RX680/RX690 as the RX5700XT,or decided to rebrand the Ryzen 5 3600 replacement as a Ryzen 5 5600X.

They have been doing it for years and only have gotten away with it because of Intel and Nvidia themselves overcharging for their products.

Now you can understand why I have been sort of more negative about AMD recently - I could see where they were heading!

Looking like I could order from scan or ebuyer right now for £220.00, I hope some scalpers lose money.

    Re: RX6500XT review thread

The irony that one of the worst GPU launches has the surprise benefit of costing scalpers money. With all the goodwill AMD had gathered from the community, I'm actually finding it hard to believe they would risk that with launching the 6500 XT. I'm looking to build another PC for my nephew, and the budget cards can't even be considered that anymore. At this rate, buying him a Xbox would be the better value along with gamepass.
