    HELP! x800xt and doom3

    I have just bought a club 3d x800xt

Now the card works fine on all the games ive tried apart from doom. The problem is that on doom after about five minutes on a level the action will freeze for around 10 seconds and then start again. It will keep doing this every so often after that and sometimes repeatedly. It does not matter what settings I use. Do you think I have a dodgy card or its the drivers or its the power supply or what?

Anybody else had these same problems?

    by the way I have a shuttle g4 with a 3400+ athlon.

Have you upgraded from an nvidia card? I would recommend using Driver cleaner 3 (here) to uninstall all previous drivers etc whether ATI or Nvidia.

Re-install the latest driver for you card available here

Could you post your system specs (inc psu & OS too). Ta. Do you have any other open GL games you could test it on.

P.S. Wow is that 5.4's cats out now!!

brand new system which ive just bought.

the driver doesnt matter. Ive tried different ones and it doesnt make a difference.

os is windows xp pro sp2

psu is a shuttle 240w which doesnt seem alot but other people with the same system as mine run these cards fine.

what other recent open gl games are there?

The words 'Sledgehammer' & 'Nut' spring to mind. Would have been nice to find out what was really causing it, but at least it's sorted.. Good on ya.

    Happy gaming,
