Basically, you cant go by spec. As a guide use money but tell us how much you get and we will tell u some good ones.

so by your reasoning most expensive = best

or is it just poor grammar ?

agreed spec can be misleading, but stick to a known brand and keep a lookout for horror stories like excessive dead pixels, motion blurring and backlight issues. I have only ever used Dell TFT's and have not had any of the above problems, hopefully other members can shed light on their experiences of other brands

The aria ones are fine. Generally as a rule of thumb. you get what you pay for, but there are exceptions, but generally yes. Spec on monitors will dont completely determine how good the monitor is.

I spent £250 in PC world on a LG 17", I've not looked back!
Quality wise - first impressions was the rich/vivid colours it produced, I noticed some motion blurring during games etc, but this is somthing that I quickly got used to and don't notice anymore... I think tweaking a little here and there has helped too....
Hopefully in a year or two I'll replace it for a further £250 and get an even better performer!
I think to get a really good'un you would have to spend £500+, but I don't know as I've never seen one for real...
