Problems with MMC 9.08?

Anybody else having problems with MMC 9.08 and any solutions.
Seems, after reading around several forums, I have the common problem of TV sound going off after a few minutes and then picture freezing and being unable even with task manager of being able to shut down MMC or the TV and then having to hard reset the computer.
9.06.1 isn`t too bad but does still do it eventually.
All this on an AIW 9800Pro on a dual AMD running at stock FSB (133) on twin Barton 2500s.
Funny thing is, I bought another old 8500DV AIW as a temporary card (Retek still selling them for peanuts) and it has no problem running all the latest software and no bother with the freezing or any other problem, apart from having to use the ubiquitous AIW WDM patch to get the sound to work.
That`s a thought, wonder if the old patch will do anything for the 9800Pro.
