Question Sapphire ATI 9800 pro cooling (AGP)

Anyone know of effective and cheap cooling replacement for existing fan/heatsink on the above card. The existing fan is making a loud noise when powered on for just under a minute. I have read that it can be difficult to fit OEM cooling solutions due to the close proximity to the AGP slot. Thanks.

Arctic VGA Cooler is your best bet, easy to fit and is pretty efficient:

you should be able to find it for £15ish in online retailers.

Yup, I picked one of those up when I bought my 9800 pro, really does the trick! Temps dropped from 80 degress to about 60 when overclocked and under load.
Easy to fit, once you get the stock cooler off....that bit can be nerve wracking

I also liked how it doubled up as an exhaust fan.

more support for the Artic Cooling. my 9800 pro runs with one of these as well. much better cooling than the stock fan and less noise. two speed settings on the fan as well, so you can run it quiet(er)...

If you want absolute silence and arent planning to overclock the card then yo might want to consider the fanless heatpipe solutions. I fitted 2 to my brothers graphics cards and one was a geforce 4 ti 4800 which puts out as much heat as a 9800 pro if not more. The zalman dual heat pipe was the one i used i think. On the down side they are more expensive.

there's also the possibility of a stand alone solution with conventional cpu cooling system (modified fan 80mm/25dBA) doing the trick. It's usually noiseless, cheap and effective but requires a bit of effort while building it. Good if you want to play around.

Thanks for the reponses people. I will be getting (hopefully) Arctic Freezer 64 soon to fit to CPU which may limit the zalman passive solution(?). I did consider using an old CPU fan or spare 80mm fan but unsure as to how to mount on graphics card.

Arctic cooling VGA silencer 3 is great for the 9800pro (two fans speeds as well - both ultra quiet imo)

    can be seen here

in fact i am selling my old one:

    £9 inc P&p
