What is this saphire limited edition GTO2

    What is this card?
    http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/produ.../119image1.jpg

Ultimate edition is - heat pipe fanless

Fireblade edition is - dual slot fan exhaust to outside

    GTO2 Limited edition is - ????????

Do they all use the R480 core in both AGP and PCIe flavours?

Unlocking from 12 pipes to 16 pipes GTO2
    http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/127

This could be a great upgrade from 9800pro IF the AGP versions are the same core and can be unlocked and overclocked like the techpowerup article suggests.

Who knows what the crack is with these GTO cards?

Hmm, good question. I know Powercolor used the R480 core in their GT and GTO models, but I thought Sapphiretech used lesser spec cores in theirs. It does say that it is PCIe only in the specs, but then goes on to mention AGP power requirements. Very odd.

Anyone know where these little puppies might be obtained in the UK?

According to the Techpowerup home page:

"For the present only Sapphire X800GTO cards like the Ultimate and Fireblade editions using the X800 GTO² (R480) core can be successfully unlocked... ...X800 GTO² is only made exclusively for Sapphire."

Which is a strange thing to say and confuses matter further. Are non-R480 cores classed as GTO, and R480 as GTO2, or do they glass GTO2 as a special version of the R480. Hmm. I sense an email to Sapphire may be in order here. It's a shame they didn't benchmark the card on it's original 12 pipes but with overclocked memory, because the extra 4 pipes of itself doesn't seem to make that much difference.

As far as I'm aware the Fireblade and Ultimate cards are standard GTO and cannot be modded to up the pipelines. The GTO2 can, but is not yet released, pictures here:

I've also been searching for the answer to the same question as you, those pictures are pretty much the only official info I could find but I can confirm that the pipeline mod to 16 was done using a GTO2, not a GTO ( regardless of it being Ultimate or Fireblade).

I'm pretty sure the GTO2 has not even been officially released, hence the lack of official info.

I'm looking for answers to this as well. This is a quote from an email I got from a vendor today. It would appear that there are four versions of the GTO (probably more due to lite retails/oem cards).

"Sapphire does 4 versions of them:
    128Mb
    256 ddr3
    256 ddr3 ultimate (fanless)
    256 ddr3 fireblade"

    Lets keep hunting this down

Yeah that sounds about right, the GTO2 has not been released yet. But assuming the price is good, that is the one to look out for. R480 core and 4 unlockable pipelines.
