81.85 driver causing monitor to reset

Hi guys, thought id try the new nvidia 81.85 drievrs on my bfg 7800gt.
I uninstalled the old drivers. booted into safe mdoe and ran driver cleaner then ran the 81.85 setup and rebooted.

    All seemed fine.

Yet i now have this massive problem

When i click display proeprties advanced and click on Geforce 7800 GT tab. My monitor goes weird for a few seconds (screen stretches to wide screen) then it resets. By this i mean the graphics card/drivers seems to send a signal to the monitor and it reverts back to default monitor settings ( 30% brightness, default horizonal/vertical height/size). Which is leaving me with a very dark monitor and only using up only 80% of the available screen size.

Any idea whats causing this? Is there some setting to turn this off? or should i go back to the old drivers?

    Many Thanks

Are u using a tft or crt?
    Is it a nvidia chipset?

I would uninstall the drivers (and chipset if NV), run driver cleaner (google for it!) and then reinstall the new drivers. If that dopesn't fix it, you could try uninstalling or installing the monitor profile as that may be conflicting.
