So what now ?

Hi guys - I was recently the very lucky winner of an Intel P4 820 2.8GHz dual core cpu and an Intel D955XBK mainboard courtesy of the fine chaps at Intel and Hexus towers, so it looks like a long overdue upgrade is in order.

So here is the situation, I'm running an ABit KT400A motherboard with 1GB of PC2700 DDR333 memory (2 sticks of 512) Athlon 2500 (clocking ultra-stable at 2800 speed) and a Gainward GF FX5900 (flashed to 5950)

So, looks like I'm going to need some new memory (1gb) and a mid-range graphics card, so can anyone advise me what to look for ? Graphics wise I will spend £150 on a card MAX, but I'm lost when it comes down to the current generation of cards and their comparitive speeds to the old FX5XXX series.

Nvidia 6800gs - I've seen them £152 and is much faster than your current card.

Thanks Ed - its that a PCI express card? As I think this new board needs it to be. Are these cards as good as the ATI ones for AA and AF these days ?

My gfx budget will be the same, so the more suggestions the merrier

a 6800GS, this will be at least triple the speed of ur current pseudo 5950..

x800gto2, if u can find one.. when overclocked will shove all 16 pipes into that 5950's ***. Also triple/quad ur current card speed at high res.
