Can anyone recommend me a TV Tuner please?

I've got my eye set on the Avermedia Digital TV Tuner DVB-T.

It seems that the Avermedia ones are much cheaper than similar offering by Hauppage.
Not sure who else make TV tuners, or the features between the different brand so if anyone can enlighten me
(I know my friend got the Avermedia ones and he seems very happy with it)

Also, how do stand alone TV tuner compares to the TV tuning features of a Radeon AIW? Can AIW receive free digital TV?

    Thanks.

if you want a tv card without digital tuner, then i would recommend this one:
Leadtek Tv2000XP Deluxe. As i have read allot of good stuff about it, and its got a remote,fm tuner, and does vidoe capturing.
    64Bit XP3000,Jetway S755Max Mobo, 512Mb DDR333 Generic (ebuyer) ram, NEC A1300 DVD rw -/+
60Gb IBM Diskstar 120XP, and the usual.

I have the Avermedia Digital TV Tuner DVB-T and it is very good, esp for the asking price. AIW have lovelly functionality but ATI don't make them for specific markets which would be required for digital TV. If you want the 30 free-to-air TV channels then you'll need a digital TV card. The Aver's biggest downside is the sw still hasn't been tweaked and there are a few little things which would enahnce it further. You do get a wireless IR remote control, can recieve digital radio and since digital TV is already in MPEG2 format it's very easy to store to HD and has no loss of quality. Just be sure your aerial is high quality as digital TV brings uninterupted perfect pictures and sound BUT only if the signal is very good. You may need a 'High Gain' aerial which are around £25 (Maplins?). More info ...

    How about the Hauppage Nova?

It offers Digital TV as but, and is in the same price range.

    Thats kinda odd..
I know two people who got the Avermedia product, and neither had any problem.
If anything, they recommended to me highly o_0

The people in that forum seem to favor the Nebula DigiTV card.
Guess I'll have to look into it in more details.. I'd like to know what features does the Nebula card have over the Avermedia one.. Especially in terms of software.

(Hardware wise, they seem to do the same thing, and they both have a remote)

I have the AverMedia DVBT (Digital terristrial) and it is a very good card although I would like the sw to be tweaked a little to make a very good product into a great product. No problems for me except sorting out an aerial (high gain) for the card and getting it mounted in the loft.

Where's this card available from (Avermedia DVBT one)? I'm interested, esp if it can record mpeg2 without any recompression.

Have any of you guys tried sing DScaler to view TV instead of the normal drivers?

I find it much better then the Hauppauge software, doesn't even need drivers installed for it. Depending which chipset you use it should work

The Hauppauge cards are better in XP as they perform a realtime de-interlacing thing which removes the lines you normally see when things are moving on the screen (only works in XP, and probably 2003).
