I've got a 9800Pro and am looking at spending £120 ish to replace!

Firstly, it is an AGP card so i'm quite limited but the X800 GTO looks interesting, as does the X1600 Pro. Is the X800 GTO faster per chance? The prices suggest it is.
What do Nvidia have to offer me in that Price range?
The price is including VAT BTW!

How much faster will these be than a 9800 Pro? If they aren't much faster (read close to twice as fast) I dont think i'll bother.

a 6800GT will be significantly faster than a 9800Pro, esp when u consider that almost all 6800GT gets to clock past a 6800Ultra without much effort..

X800XT and 6800GT are pretty much bang on for performance. Pretty much 2 x a 9800pro too.

I used to have a X800pro (flashed to 16 pipes) and my mate has a 6800gt, id say his 6800gt is slightly better but thats cause hes using plain cheating drivers You shouldnt be disappointed by either card though.

Ehehe.. I did have a 6800GT before, and TBH.. That card gave me more satisfaction than even my 7800GT then..

I have heard good things about the X800s, but have never used them before.. Anyhow, a 6800GT clocked at ludicrous 450/1200 no-hold-bars is the pinnacle of NV40 architecture.. Others may have went higher, but I was one of the few lucky ones who had a GT that does those speeds on air.. and its absolutely, foolproof-ly FAST (in terms of 6800 generation).. ehehehe..

Hope Synergy (the guy that nicked this baby off me last week) will treat that beast as well as I've treated it in the past year or so.. *sob* missing it already...

6800GT = Quality card. At Ultra speeds (that allmos any GT can do) can run FEAR max settings (no sof shadows) with 2qaa and 8af with aceptable fps. Eats any other game for breakfast tbh.

you might consider the 7600gt as well? They're not a lot over 120 so will probably be found within your budget soon enough!

7600GT wont be available on AGP AFAIK..

I still think a 6800GT (2nd hand of course) will be the best one to get, when clocked up you'll get 95% of an X850XTs horsepower but with SM3.0 and HDR that'll work with newer good looking games like TRL..

See if you can find an X800GTO that unlocks to 16pp, overclocks to 570/570 and above and 3dMark05's at 7200. All for the princely sum of £114 6 months ago There should still be some around somewhere, just make sure they are unlockable first.

There are no AGP X800GTO that unlocks (maybe wrong).. but if they DO unlock, its probably the R420 XL core that is a pain to clock, you'll be glad if it even gets pass 450MHz...

Think I'm going to wait myself, then completely replace my entire system either in June or later at the end of the summer. AM2, DDR2, 7900gt (or, um 8900gt or something), nice cheap 20" widescreen tft, hopefully all with hdcp/hdmi if it's still in fashion my 9800pro still manages to struggle on through FEAR, CSSource and BF2, despite the rest of my ancient hardware! Yes I have to turn some of the graphics options off/down, but that in turn means I am less tempted to buy a TFT ... my CRT is still pretty good at scaling resolutions Not to say I don't still want a new system now! Resistance is hard!

A 6800GS will be about 2x the speed of a 9800Pro depending on application.. some >2x some less.. 6800GT seond hand ones will be the pinnacle really, unless you're shelling out murderous money for a crippled hitman like 7800GSs or a an overpaid 7800GT disguised as a GS (Gainward Bliss 512MB)

X800XL or equivalent (X800GTO 16 *if its even available on AGP8), will be about that region as well..
