    Will you buy nVidia again?

My confidence in nVidia based products has been severely dented by the 7900GT/GTX charade.

As opposed to trying to solve the problems many are experiencing, nVidia decided to play the finger pointing game at the manufacturers whose response has been mixed from very bad to very good. Either way, even the "good" manufacturers don't seem to be able to completely nail the problem.

I'm actually quite lucky in that my malfunctioning card was easily fixed by a slight increase in the memory speed (as suggested by XFX). Others have not been so lucky and have been through multiple cards.

Even though I've been an ardent nVidia user in the past, I seriously doubt if I'll buy another card based on an nVidia GPU, not because of the fault itself, but the shoddy manner in which it has been supported.

I'm interested to hear other opinions on the matter.

im not interested in another nvidia card for the forseeable future, although my first taste of ATI in years hasnt been too great, and i havent even seen it in 3d yet!

i think that most manufacturers have their problems, and some deal with them better than others. then again, if everything was perfect, i wouldnt have anything to moan about

With the marriage of ATI & AMD - I'd be more willing to try ATI next time

Personaly I have resolved to buy nVidia over ATI in future because of their linux support.

ATI's support for linux is dire, and having struggled to get ATI cards to display anything (other than low res text) on linux boxen way to many times, I have decided to always go for nVidia, even it it works out a bit more expensive for the performance, because I know that whatever card I buy for windows gaming will end up in a linux box after a year or two when I upgrade.

Having said that, Intel support for linux has historicaly been even better, so now that they are producing decent CPUs again, I will probably buy a board with one of their chipsets next time, and if they ever produce decent 3D cards, I will deffinately go for them.

My 7900GT just died however i'd buy a 7600GT as a stopgap until DX10 (if i can be bothered) would prefer ATI to be honest as i think 2D is far better (3d im unsure) but cant they make them a bit less power hungry?!

This 7900 debacle hasn't put me off nvidia permanently, but I wont be upgrading my 7800GT until the next gen of cards now, unless I see a nice cheap X1900.

I'm more annoyed about NVidia's drivers to be honest - I have a great video card and it works flawlessly, but it's totally let down by the software.

As for upgrading, of course I would - for starters one generation of cards often bears no relation to another (4x00ti vs FX vs 6800* anyone?), and secondly I'll just get what's best value for money anyway.

I will most likely get a 7600GT for my next build as I can't really see anything by ATI in that price range. I've never had great confindence in ATI, don't know why but I have never owned one.

I've only ever bought ati in the past, but my next purchase will be the 7600gt (it's a better choice for my shuttle than the ati equivalent)

I've had a few problems with my 7900GT, but after leaving the clocks back at stock all artifacting and desktop spasming have stopped so it'll do for the moment.

It's a shame. My 6800GT was rock solid at Ultra speeds and probably a little further. nVidia messed up this time, but I'll keep the faith.

I'll buy whatever looks best. Happy with my last 3 cards (Ti4600, 9800 Pro, 2x6800GTs) so no real vendor preference.
