    I know Waka! I had a 15.4" screen with a 1920x1200 resolution... Nuts isn't it?

That Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB looks fantastic, but unfortunately I'm unable to use eBay, which reduces my chances of getting a CRT considerably. However, I'm still persevering in trying to find either that monitor or the Samsung SM1100MB for an affordable price. So far, the Dabs price of £300 for the latter seems a tad steep considering the bargains available elsewhere, but finding a place which stocks such models is proving near impossible.

Thanks for the great help though guys, keep it up.

Dell P1130, massive thing. 1600x1200@85hz. up to 100hz on lower res. Up to 2048x1536 with a lower refresh rate. Sony tririntron true flat screen. Weighs an absolute ton though.

Tons on eBay for £60 + del. might be worth using a friends eBay account or something.

Thanks for the suggestion Chuckskull, I've added it to my list of CRTs-to-look-out-for.

I'm trying to get access to eBay as best I can, however, in the event I cannot, there is a strong likelihood that I'll be going for either a 17" or 19" SXGA LCD monitor. I've had a scout about, and there seem to be some well priced options at this level. However, the different monitors seem to have very similar specification.

So my question is: Does anybody know of particular monitors of the above type, which have a response time of 8ms or less, perhaps without the reduced colour-reproduction abilities some LCDs seem to have in place to achieve such speeds? Most of these monitors I've seen appear to have these features, so it's down to good experience people have had I guess.

Check Komplett to I got my Samsung 19" crt from there only a few months back, they also have the 21" version to. They are great monitors, haven't found fault yet with em, flat screen, great hi screen resolutions, can't complain at all

    19" version:

    21" version:

I have one of those 19" monitors sitting at home doing nothing. Was gonna chuck it on ebay.

Finally someone else who hasn't been blinded by marketing, and has decent eyes

CRTs are still much better than their TFT counterparts - on a like for like basis.

Not going to waste my energy arguing with those that think different about it, but seriously, a top notch CRT will be better

Anyway back OT - back in the UK I have one of these 1100DF-Black (I think)

    http://www.samsung.com/Products/Moni.../CF21GSBUK.asp

Got one when they were on special a year ago for 150quid You can see the resolutions it does..not bad at all. I'm stuck here with a 19" LG panel, which is nice enough but only has a resolution of 1280x1024, and I miss my big screen.

Look around on ebay for them - there were are couple around when I last checked, definitely worth going for one over a TFT though if you can find out in your price range..

Thanks a lot for the replies Grey M@a and Spud1. Now that I see Komplett stock that monitor for a very good price, it looks like I'll be going for it.

Ideally, I'm looking for the highest resolution at the best frequency. The SM1100MB can support QXGA @ 80hz, and 1600x1200 @ 102hz, which it would be running at most often. Other than the Diamond Pro 2070SB, it seems to be the best out there, and fortunately, is still manufactured.

Once again, thanks a lot for your help guys.

Without a doubt CRT is far superior compared with TFT. I got my TFT a couple of days ago.

Not sure if it my TFT but the black is not even close to black but grey.
The specs are 700:1 and 300cd/m2. The brightness is set to 0 and contrast around 50-60. I've tried several adjustments but it'll no way match a CRT in terms of picture quality.

During desktop usage you wouldn't notice the difference, it's only when you atch a film or play games like Quake 4/Doom 3/Oblivion.

It's nice and sharp but a CRT is preferable unless you really have no space then a TFT is the better option.
