    Card seems to artefact

At the stock overclock. Using a 7600gt xxx edition and it doesn't like doom 3 much or even CS 1.6 with some AA AF added from drivers. Tried a mild underclock (just above the proper setting and still. The GPU doesn't go above 55 C so I'm thinking maybe memory is bad.

awww dont say that, i have a gigabyte one and its really hot before even getting to windows, i was hoping the 7600gt would be free from the problems of the 7900 series.

You may want to RMA it then and get a replacement. My m8s 7600gt recently started artefacting as well in certain games so he wasnt to chuffed and RMA'd it, got a replacement one and now all seems fine touchwood. Seems like nvidia is plagued with these artefacting cards hehe.

Definately sounds like it could be RMA time. If your temps arent going above 55c, then you are probably right in thinking the memory is bad.

I would suggest RMAing the card without hesitation

I also had a 7600GT that artifacted at stock speeds, even at pretty low temps. It was fine for a week or so, but then it just started artifacting. I found that the proxycon test from 3DMark03 showed this the worst.

My replacement 7600GT has been fine so far.
