Dell 2407 or Apple Cinema 23"?

    Dear all,

I’m trying to decide between the two screens and I’m seeking some help.

Apple have recently refreshed their range, but for some weird reason it’s not available in Europe yet. The Apple screen certainly looks nicer but it’s the quality of the picture that I’m after. Apple has had a few problems with backlight bleeding on their 23” range. They do replace the unit if you’re suffering from this issue, but I’ve heard that they replace it with a refurb model. On the Dell side, they’ve had their fair share of problems with Banding etc.. But it seems that the A03 revision has fixed most of the problems they were experiencing.

I can get the Apple for 597 EXT VAT and the Dell for 479 EXT VAT.

I do a lot of gaming and the Apple screen is design for professional use, but is pretty good for gaming with the latest refresh.

I will have a Macpro so it would be good to team the kit up with an Apple screen.

Would be good to hear from people with the A03 revision to see what your thoughts are?

    Thanks for your time

    Darren

Dell. Great screen, good stand, great connectivity and no quibble warranty (in my experience). Apple are charging 100 bucks plus for a badge change

My current monitor had an apple equivilent and the Dell has more connectivity and better electronics (same panel on either).

I would go for the dell - as has been said the connectivity is better, and if you hunt around, you can get them for a suprisingly good price

Apple are great - but they charge extra for the design (they do look nice tho...)

I would definately get the Dell over the Apple. You're just throwing money away by getting the Apple screen.

You may also wanna look at the 24" Samsung SM244T

I heard the Sammy suffered from input lag.

The dell, it's quite a nice looker as it is so i wouldn't buy the apple just for looks as that's all it seems to have on the dell.

Has anyone suggested the Dell yet? No? I will then.

There's a lot of the 2405s around for a reason. (OK, so this is the 2407, but once the intial batches were out of the way, they've been bloody good by all accounts)

Haven't they changed the screen they use?

And I thought the A03 rev wasn't available in Europe or am I wrong?

I've got the dell, and its ace. Cant complain-beats my old Acer 19" anyday. Bezel wise it looks a lot better than the 2405WFP.

the apple looks nicer but the dell is just a much better monitor with built in card reader and you you can pretty much plug anything into it. Had mine for over 1 year now, love it to bits

The dell has everything you could possibly want except an apple (your local grocery store should solve that), and for a great price. I don't see how it's such a hard choice .

All it is really is having the complete Apple kit. It's a very nice looking screen, but i think i'll have to go with the Dell.
