As title, I need to set my monitor refresh rate to 100Hz @ 1024x768 for the screen to be totally flicker free, and at 90Hz on 800x600 for flicker free viewing, is this about normal ?
Monitor is CRT, one in sig.

Sorry.. the screen isn't so much filckering, although that's just as good a word as any, but apparantly not. So I've been told.
It's not as bad as like when you set the screen rez too high or when you see monitors on tv where you get the lines moving up the screen.
There is no interferance actually on the screen, more like the whole screen image is slightly shacking, mostly at the corners of the screen. It's very slight and only realy noticable at the corners. However after looking at the screen for a while it get's more and more noticable.
I've made sure it's not just me, my family can also see it too.
Cheers, Dave.

move any speakers magnets away from the monitor and monitor cable also try and get the monitor cable as far away as u can from mains leads etc as they can all interfere
Can tv's interfere aswell? the tv is directly above the monitor.
Cheers.

I had the same problem, it was the power socket it was pluged into. It was on the same 4 way adapter as my stereo and TV and it would look as if the picture was wobbling or vibrating. Changed it to a seperate socket by itself and it cured it.Originally posted by Dave_07

One other option for you to try mate, in your graphics cards properties try turning on Vertical sync in OpenGL and Direct3D if you are seeing the "flickering" in games etc...........let us know.

Have you tried checking what your actual refresh is of the monitor - using the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) - it should have an option on that Iiyama to show you what the monitor is currently set at ...Originally posted by Dave_07

This is to rule out the possibility of Windows lying to you about the actual refresh - this is an annoyance with ATI drivers - if you don't set an upper limit within Settings > Advanced > Display for the refresh/resolution then you will only get the default maximum (which might be less than 100Hz) irrespective of what you set the monitor at under Settings > Advanced > Monitor under win2k/xp.
Just a thought, however, it does sound more like it's an interference problem than a refresh problem.
Dont foget Fans can make the screen shake too.
