Which 7x00 GS AGP card from PCWorld?

Hi there, in the next couple of days I may get the chance to buy a new AGP card from PC World. Don't ask, but it really really is my only option. Unfortunately that leaves me with very few choises. Hopefully I won't be stuck with what's in the store and can get stuff ordered through PC World Business, otherwise the choice is already made (PNY). If not, I' can either go for:

PNY 7600 GS: info (for what it's worth) here: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/816872

basically, i can find absolutely no where with any more information that what i'll find on the box next time i'm there. bascially, 7600gs, 256mb ddr2 mem, 400mhz ramdac. The rest i'm guessing at going by the reference design - 400 Mhz core clock, 800 Mhz mem clock, 128 bit, 12 pix pipelines.

    Club3D 7600 GS: info @ http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/CLUB3D62

256mb ddr2 mem, 128 bit, 400mhz ramdac, 400 mhz core clock, 667 mhz mem clock, 12 pix pipelines.

With potentially a slower mem clock (not that I can actually find out what the PNY one is) I'm only considering it as it's clearly more widely used than the pny one, and therefore probably easier to get help with if i ever need it (drivers, modding, ocing, etc).

    Club3D 7800 GS: info @ http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/CLUB3D67

Sure, obvious one, but it's (eventually) destined for a media centre PC so I'm not too sure about the noise factor. but frankly, if i can get hold of it then i'll forget about the others.

and fwiw, don't bother suggesting ati cards. unless they decided overnight to support linux a hell of a lot better than they currently do, they ain't getting any of my money.

Do you want to use it for gaming? and if so what games etc.

7800gs is obviously gonna be quicker than 7600gs, but i dont think its worth the cost esp not if ur not gonna use it for gaming for long.

I have x1600xt on one PC which was almost identical to 7600gs on all the benchmarks i saw. It runs most most old games ok but really didnt cut it when i tried oblivion on it (800x600 res - no AF). I think u can expect the same with 7600gs (7800gs wont give amazing perf either).

Id go for 7600 and save ur money for a gaming rig if thats what u want.

well clearly i'll grab the 7800gs if i can regardless of what i'm using it for, but yeah i'll be gaming on it as much as possible, but only bf2 at most. and frankly i'm happy with the performance of that on my current 9600 pro, so anything else is just a bonus.

the thing is, the money isn't a problem at all, i'm not paying for it (it's a work thing) but i don't have any choice other than pc world, so it's only their stock that's the problem. i really just wanted to know what wether the Club3D or PNY 7600GS would be better as there's few reviews of either online.

Get the 7800 & pay for an aftermarket cooler when it gets put into your media PC? You won't be talking more than £20 which isn't bad considering it was free in the first place ;-)

hopefully i'll be able to, its just a case of whether i can get it through pc world business or not (not sure whether there's a business account involved or not, and if they'd order stuff out the mag in store anyway if there wasn't).
