I think anyone considering an LCD monitor should do themselves a favour and read this very well written article by X-bit labs - it blows away some common myths with easy to understand, common sense analysis based up experiments and deals with things just as refresh rate, response time, contrast ratio etc. etc.

People interested in technical writing should also have a look - it's a shining example of clear english writing of a technical subject.
