Hello,
I am in the middle of building a new system for myself and have came upon something I have never run into before. First here are the system specs and what i have done to try and troubleshoot the system: Athlon 64 4000+ msi K8N Neo 4 Ultra platinum mobo, 2 gigs of value ram, NEC DVDRW, WD 500 gig sata drive, MSI 7900 GT video, an ultra 500 watt PSU. After putting it all together in the case it would not power up at all no psu fan no cpu fan nothing. I jumped the psu and it came on? I tried a known PSU from my linux box still no power on, I then tried working ram from my linux box no power still, I tried a known to work ecs extreme kn! mobo a friend had still nothing?
I then placed everthing bac on the MSI board except the video card I dug out an old matrox pci card still no power? I am sorry to say I am at a loss I don't have another CPU to try. So my question is can a bad CPU make the motherboard not power up? I always thought the fans would at least spin up and you would get bios beeps? Does anyone have any suggestions that I might try?
Also I tird the stock cpu fan but I also tried another new cpu fan neither came on. I used artic silver 5 on the cpu only 2 rice grains like the directions say.
Thanks in advance
