Phone Line Dead!!!

Can any expert tell me why can i access the internet, even if there isn't a dialing tone. BT have said there is a problem with the internal phone line but I'm able to access the net even though im not at full speed.

Although its the same copper once the Line hits the exchange It goes to a telephony card and a ADsl DSLAm. If the telephonyt card is borked the line should still be able to hit the DSLAM.
